NEW YORK, Jan. 22 -- The National Association of Scholars issued the following news release on Jan. 21, 2025:
On Tuesday, January 14, the Republican-led House of Representatives passed the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 (H.R. 26) by a vote of 219 to 203. The bill amends Title IX to clarify that it is violated when a school "permits a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls."
