SEC: American Electric Power Hit With $19 Million Penalty for Misleading Investors

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 -- The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged American Electric Power with misleading investors about its relationship with a nonprofit group and its internal accounting controls. The company has agreed to settle the charges for $19 million.
