WASHINGTON, March 29 -- The U.S. Department of Justice issued the following news release on March 27, 2024:

A former Pike County, Ohio, Sheriff's Office deputy was sentenced today to 100 months in prison and three years of supervised release for federal civil rights violations involving excessive force.

In August 2023, Jeremy C. Mooney, 49, was convicted by a federal jury of two counts of violating a victim's constitutional rights by pepper spraying and punchi . . .
