NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (TNSPol) -- The New York State Nurses Association issued the following statement:

"NYSNA joins our union sisters and brothers in mourning the sudden death of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka. The son and grandson of coal miners, he spent his last few months fighting for the PRO Act and fighting in solidarity with his fellow UMWA coal miners in Alabama. We remember and thank him for his dedication to working families across the country.
