WASHINGTON, June 23 -- The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued the following news release on June 22, 2021:
Today NOAA announced the designation of a 962-square-mile area of Wisconsin's Lake Michigan as a national marine sanctuary. Such sanctuaries are protected waters that include important habitats and, in cases like this one, archeological sites.
