Wright-Patterson supports more than 30,000 vehicles transiting through the installation's seven access control points each day with the 88th Security Forces Squadron safeguarding the wing's roadways. Even with all precautions in place, in 2019 there have been 106 vehicle accidents of which 17 resulted in injury or disabling damage. On top of that there have also been 306 traffic citations.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base: New Gate 26A Opens for Area A Passenger, Commercial Traffic
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio, Nov. 19 -- The U.S. Air Force issued the following news:
A new gate opened Nov. 18 for commercial and passenger vehicles at Wright-Patt's Area A.
The new Gate 26A began operations and is open weekdays 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., for both commercial and passenger vehicles.
The new gate will also be open on Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., for commercial vehicles only.
