DES MOINES, Iowa, Dec. 7 -- The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship issued the following news:
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) have detected a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (H5N1 HPAI) in a flock of commercial layer chickens in Sioux County, Iowa. Iowa Gov. Reynolds Extends Harvest Proclamation
DES MOINES, Iowa, Dec. 7 -- Gov. Kim Reynolds, R-Iowa, issued the following news release on Dec. 6, 2024:
Gov. Kim Reynolds today signed an extension of the proclamation relating to the weight limits and transportation of grain, fertilizer, and manure.
The proclamation is effective immediately and continues through January 7, 2025.
The proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer (dry, liquid, and gas), and manure (dry and liquid) to be over

Luther College receives rare collection of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen first editions
DECORAH, Iowa, Dec. 6 -- Luther College issued the following news:
Thanks to a 1931 Luther College alumnus' passion for collecting books, the college's Preus Library now has an almost complete set of Henrik Ibsen first editions in its special collections.
Mary Kvamme, daughter of Ernest Marvin Espelie '31, recently donated a collection of 22 Ibsen first editions during a private event in the library's rare book room. Norway's foremost author, Ibsen wrote 25 plays during his lifetime.
