N.J. A.G. Platkin: N.J. Police Licensure Act Takes Effect
TRENTON, New Jersey, Feb. 2 -- New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin issued the following news release:
A new state law went into effect this month requiring New Jersey's approximately 40,500 police officers to hold valid, active licenses issued by the Police Training Commission (PTC) in order to serve as law enforcement officers.

Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 353, ordering U.S. and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in honor of United States Army Reserve Sergeant William Jerome Rivers. A Willingboro native, Rivers was among the three U.S. Army soldiers killed in a terrorist attack at a Jordan military base on Sunday, January 28.
