USA Softball has announced the athletes selected to represent the U.S. Women's National Team (WNT) Program at two international events in 2026 -- the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Cup Group C Stage Event and the USA Softball International Cup.
Selected by the Women's National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC), the 2026 WBSC World Cup Group C roster features 16 athletes who will represent TeamUSA September 12-16 in Oklahoma City. Additionally, 18 athletes have been named to the U.S. Women's Elite Team roster for the 2026 International Cup. Slated for July 30-August 3 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, the event will feature both squads, along with two additional athletes competing with the WNT. This announcement follows the prior release of the WNT Athlete Pool.

The 2026 WBSC World Cup Group C roster features two members of the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team, seven athletes from the 2025 World Games gold medal squad and 10 players who competed in the 2025 USA Down Under Series. One of the newest additions to the WNT Athlete Pool, Megan Grant will once again represent the U.S. after competing in the 2023 and 2024 Japan All-Star Series.
The 16-player roster includes former student-athletes from three NCAA Division I conferences -- the SEC (10 athletes), Big 12 (three athletes) and Big Ten (three athletes). Oklahoma leads all schools with four members, followed by UCLA with three, while Kentucky and Tennessee each tab two athletes. Other universities represented include Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma State and Texas with one athlete apiece. Jocelyn Erickson (Florida) and Hannah Flippen (Utah) will compete with Team USA at the 2026 International Cup this summer.
"This is an outstanding group of athletes, and the depth of talent in our program continues to grow," said U.S. WNT head coach Patty Gasso. "Selecting the roster is never easy, but we're fortunate to have a strong blend of experience and skill, with each athlete bringing something unique to the team. The U.S. Women's Elite Team roster is highlighted by five current student-athletes and 13 former student-athletes. Among them, Kendall Wells (Oklahoma) and Taylor Shumaker (Florida) will make their international debuts after earning spots in the 2026 WNT Athlete Pool. Bringing a wealth of international experience, five athletes return after competing in the 2025 USA Down Under Series, while four members of the 2025 World Games gold medal team will also take the field with the Elite Team.
The roster includes athletes from six NCAA Division I conferences: the SEC (eight athletes), Big Ten (six athletes), AAC (one athlete), ACC (one athlete), Big 12 (one athlete) and Sun Belt (one athlete). Representing 11 NCAA Division I universities, UCLA leads the pack with five athletes, followed by Oklahoma with three and Texas with two. On July 18, 2026, the James L. Knight Center, a multifunctional convention hall in Miami, Florida, will host an IBA BARE KNUCKLE tournament, the International Professional Bare Knuckle League established under the auspices of the International Boxing Association (IBA) at the direction of the organization's president, Umar Kremlev.
The event will be hosted by Jon Jones, widely regardedas one of the greatest boxers in UFC history, who will help deliver an unforgettable evening of world-class bare-knuckle action for fans.
One of the tournament's main attractions will be a bare-knuckle showdown between Viacheslav Borshchev, a former UFC boxer from Russia and an International Master of Sports in kickboxing, and Elvin Brito, Puerto Rico's professional boxer and the inaugural BKFC champion, widely known by his nickname "El Bandido."
The event will also feature a bout between Javier Fortuna, a Dominican professional boxer, former WBA Regular Super Featherweight World Champion (2015-2016) and former WBA Interim Featherweight World Champion (2012-2013), and Colombian professional boxer Alejandro Munera. For nearly a century, the 9,100-seat Hinkle Fieldhouse has stood among the most recognizable venues in basketball. Hinkle Fieldhouse hosted the 1954 Indiana high school state championship game that inspired the 1986 movie Hoosiers, and climactic scenes from the film were shot there. In 1955, future NBA legend Oscar Robertson led Crispus Attucks High School to the Indiana state championship at Hinkle Fieldhouse, making the team the nation's first all-Black basketball state champion.

The American Association of Professional Baseball will welcome three new members to the league Hall of Fame on Tuesday, July 14 at a dinner banquet held in conjunction with the 2026 American Association All-Star Game in Lincoln, NE.
The three newest members of the American Association Hall of Fame, as selected by a voteof league clubs, are Lincoln Saltdogs owner Jim Abel, Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks manager and former RedHawks and Major League catcher Chris Coste, and longtime American Association standout Nate Samson, who spent eight seasons with the Sioux City Explorers and also played for the Winnipeg Goldeyes, St. Paul Saints, and Lincoln Saltdogs.
"We are proud to induct three of the finest individuals ever to be part of the American Association," said American Association Commissioner Joshua Schaub. "This class, like the ones before it, reflects the very fabric of our league and has helped shape it into what it is today. Without their vision, leadership, and excellence, we would not be where we are now."
Abel leads this year's group of inductees as the original and current owner of the Lincoln Saltdogs. Abel's vision created a partnership between NEBCO, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the City of Lincoln that led to the development of Haymarket Park and the establishment of the Saltdogs organization beginning with the 2001 season. Abel is the Chairman & CEO of NEBCO, Inc., whose businesses span the state of Nebraska with interests in heavy construction and the manufacture of concrete building products as well as real estate development and recreation.
Coste went from an overlooked Division III baseball player to a Major League talent, lighting the path for many others to follow. The Fargo native hit .323 over four seasons with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, earning post-season all-star honors as a catcher three times and helping to lead the squad to the 1998 league championship. Coste reached Major League Baseball after 12 years in the minors in 2006 and won a World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. As a manager, he led Fargo-Moorhead to the AAPB title and earned Manager of the Year honors in 2022 and guided the RedHawks to the 2023 Baseball Champions League title. He also authored the book "The 33-Year Old Rookie" about his journey to Major League Baseball.
Samson was a stalwart in the American Association for a decade. Second in AAPB history with 815 hits, Samson played 10 seasons with Winnipeg (2013), Sioux City (2014, 2016-19, 2021-22), St. Paul (2020) and Lincoln (2022-23). A three-time postseason all-star at shortstop, he led the league with a .340 average in 2018, while his 141 hits that season were a Sioux City club record. Samson's 318 RBI over seven seasons with the Explorers are also a Sioux City AAPB career record, while his 329 runs scored, 509 games played, 634 hits and 107 doubles are second in Explorers AAPB history.
